Flyers 3 Thrashers 1
Flyers are now 16-7-7-1 and unbeaten in their last 5.
The Flyers held off a pesky Atlanta team to record a road win in the second part of back to back games. The goals were tallied by Brashear, Recchi and Williams who played a solid overall game. Robert Esche continued taking advantage of his occasional starts and looked stellar, again, between the pipes coming up especially big in the 3rd period as Atlanta continually pressured. There were no fights to report.

Flyers 1 Blues 2
Flyers are now 12-7-6-1.
Special teams were a joke. Again. Flyers outshoot and generally outplay their opponent. And lose. Again. No fights to entertain people who blew a day's pay attending the FUC. Again. Blah, blah, blah. Then they take what I feel is a personal shot at myself and deal one of my alltime favorite Flyers (Dan McGillis). For a friggin European at that. Anyone else getting really tired of this ongoing mess?

Flyers 3 Rangers 2 F/OT
Flyers are now 12-6-6-1 and have captured 5 out of the last 6 possible points...
A quality hockey game. It took awhile to actually believed I typed that remark regarding a Flyers game not played in October this year. But, that is exactly what last nights contest turned out to be. Two big rivals playing hard, working the corners and scoring pretty goals. The game was decided in overtime on a penalty shot. That, in and of itself, would be enough to label a game as exciting. Toss in a raucous home crowd that came to boo the former golden boy, Eric Lindros, and the aforementioned high quaility of play to validate my point. Mark Recchi slips a wristshot 5 hole and Holik answers with a tracer top shelf. Roenick blasts one to the far side top corner and is answered by a Lindros cannon from the point. Then, with time running down in a cautious OT, Handzuse breaks free and is hooked down from behind. I'll admit the penalty was a good call but, the awarding of a penalty shot was slightly questionable. Handzus deeked Blackburn down then flipped one high into the net for a big W. The one the downside, and any regular reader of my Flyers Beach Recaps has heard this lament much too frequently, there were no fights despite the presence of numerous combatants on both sides of the ice. I, for one, was eagerly anticipating a rematch of Bashear-McCarthy from the preseason domination Brashear dropped on his head.
