Slow Down Eagles Fans

Can you smell it? Ah yes, its the wafting odor of the pending NFL postseason and once again Philly fans are getting themselves more worked up than little Billy opening up his Millenium Falcon replica on Christmas. Do I really have to remind everyone that this is Philadelphia? The land of losing teams, heartbreakers, and malcontents. Let me preface this discussion by saying that I've never been a fan of the Eagles nor have I really rooted against them. I am a lifelong member of the Raider Nation so I've had my fair share of ups and downs (including a 4-12 campaign this year). In a league which craves mediocrity, the Eagles have adopted a philosophy of building a consistently good team, not a great team. A team, which if every thing falls into place, has a chance to backdoor their way into a championship. However, this philosophy doesn't work if you run into a hot team, like the Birds did last year. The last three Super Bowl champs; the Bucs, Pats, and Ravens all were ridiculously en fuego down the stretch. You can make the argument that the Eagles were hot down the stretch by winning 10 of their last 11. But lets not forget how conservative the Eagles get in big games and when was the last time Andy Reid outcoached somebody in a playoff game? I seem to recall last year when the Bucs had no chance of coming into the Vet and winning a playoff game after they had been unceremoniously spanked the last two years. Now I'm starting to hear again this year how the Rams have no chance of coming into the Linc and beating the Eagles. If winning three division titles in a league of mediocre teams makes you the NFL gold standard, what does winning a Super Bowl mean? So, if you like your football watered down then this is the league for you. Finally Eagles fans, before you start making reservations for Houston just take a step back and take it one game at a time.
