The Editor is a Fugazi
Rebuking a Fugazi
By: TJ Moos (10-2002)
Let me start by saying that phillypage2.com is a great idea and I love visiting the site. The story about the 1980 World Series just about brought a tear to my eye, and I think Troy Vincent does look like a Sleestack. You are pretty much right on about "The Chief", but the grinch poem just shows you have way too much time on your hands.
Which brings me to the sports fugazi. Sports fugazi seemed like a clever idea, however I believe you have gone a bit too far with one of your selections. For you to say that someone putting their own name on the back of a jeresy with the number of their choice is a fugazi, then that just shows your ignorance. How many people out there in Eagleland have 54 jerseys with "Trotter" on the back (who also made your fugazi list)? What good are they? People spend their hard earned money on something that will only be good as long as that player decides he wants to stay in town.
Guess what?
I AM NOT LEAVING TOWN, FILING FOR FREE ANGENCY, OR GETTING TRADED.
I am not going to hold out of training camp or rip the fans for booing.
I am not going to throw a temper tantrum on the sidelines and turn my jacket inside out so the team logo is not showing.
I am not going to clean my locker out 3 weeks before the season is over because I am not playing.
I am not going to short arm a ball over the middle and then ask "for who, for what."
I am not going to sit out on my jersey give away day, then tell the fans "sorry about your luck."
I am not going to sit out an entire season because me, my mommy, and daddy do not like the GM.
I am not going to sit out and insist on a trade.
I am not going to play a year in some so called minor league because I do not want to play here.
I am not going to miss a game because I am hungover.
I am not going to sit out because of swelling in my knee. I am not going to skip practice because "my crew" needs me.
I am not going to skip my coaches induction into the hall of fame to go to Dave and Busters.
I am not going to turn down a contract and play somewhere else for less. I am not going to pout about being tagged as the franchise player.
I will still be rooting and cheering on MY HOME TEAM a lot longer then any of these players contracts (even McNabb's new one). I feel that it is every fans right to put his or her own name on the back of a jersey if that is what they wish to do. I really think you should revisit your choice of the sports fugazi. If you do not, then I guess you are no better then any of those "so called heros" who have left town. If you do not understand then you sir are a Philly Fan Fugazi.
The time is yours.
